The Examiner defends the Beaverhead County sheriff over Miller's six month jail term. It argues the court set the sentence and the sheriff must confine Miller, not grant privileges or contract labor. The piece calls the sheriff's practice of allowing labor on a ranch improper.
A bid for a new postoffice building was awarded to a Dillon formed company led by A F Graeter. A lot adjoining the Poindexter block on Idaho street was bought from Phil Poindexter and excavation started. The one story brick building with basement will be 115 by 25 feet and ready for occupancy by January 1, moving from North Montana street.
After summer breaks the city women’s clubs reorganize for winter. The Social Eight was hosted by Mrs. Dr. Rathbone last Friday afternoon. The X. V. NI. met with Mrs. Dr. Kingsbury on Tuesday afternoon. Honored guests included Mrs. H. T. Poindexter Mrs. Rebecca Stroup and Miss White. The Bitterroot club was hosted by Mrs. J. T. Cox Wednesday afternoon with Mesdames Will Staudaker A. F. Waldorf Ewdhard Cushing and Miss Patterson in attendance. The Needle club will hold its first meeting next Wednesday afternoon hosted by Mrs. A. L. Anderson.
Registration began Monday October 1st and ends Saturday October 27th. If you do not register you cannot vote. Don’t forget to register in time.
W S Tash tells Tris UNE that Fred Osburn’s $25,000 damage suit is driven by outside influence and that the rider, not the horse, caused the June accident. He claims Osburn’s complaint lacks particulars and predicts costly attorney fees. He says the young man was intoxicated and at fault as he rode the horse toward hills and into a fence under construction.
The Philharmonic Concert company of Chicago will perform in Dillon under Baptist church auspices in early November. Solo violinist Prof. Carl Reidels berger, well known in Dillon, travels with the company and has many friends here. The concert is set for Friday night, November 9.
Dr George Burfiend son of Henry Burfiend of this city wed Miss Edith Durgisch in Stillwater Minnesota on Monday evening at 6 o clock. No details of the ceremony are available. The couple will live in Afton Minnesota where the groom has established his medical practice.
Police rounded up two girls under fifteen for a few hours after repeated late night gatherings with young men, detaining them in a Kentucky avenue cabin. Authorities plan further action against two men involved as witnesses and possible additional arrests. The incident spurred calls for decency and enforcement of curfew.

Word was received in Dillon that Mrs. F M Staley wife of Judge Staley of Wisdom Big Hole basin died Wednesday morning at her daughter Mrs J W Fox home near Wisdom. Cause of death was paralysis from which she suffered months. Funeral was held in Wisdom and burial in Wisdom cemetery. The deceased came to Montana eight years ago from Bates county Missouri with her husband and family and they have since lived at Wisdom. Grief is general in the neighborhood.

Sheriff Duke Gist and Denton Oliver recovered Jack Early's horses and the Oliver horse stolen weeks ago in Shoshone Idaho. Jail escapee John Helming, captured by Idaho authorities, fled the day before the return. Reports allege a strong horse stealing ring in the area and possible Idaho sheriff complicity. Lee Sims eluded capture. Recovered horses were badly branded, disfigured, and in poor condition.
