Vault at Normal College Robbed by Expert Crackmen

A nefarious safe blasting at the State Normal college office yielded about 300 dollars in one dollar bills and the contents of the vault. Police note professional entry through a window off Atlantic street and indicate trained thieves left heavy tools behind. Faculty salary warrants and small change from the flower fund were taken, with records scattered. no stamps or checks were cashed.

Republicans Open Campaign Quarters at Metlen Hotel

Beaverhead County Republicans formally opened campaign headquarters Monday at the Metlen hotel. W S Tash and committee members attended as they prepared for a full organization and literature stock this week. Tash vowed an economical, issue focused campaign with no whoopee rallies, aiming to keep Beaverhead in the Republican column.

Fern Henderson of Dell Wins Contest

Attempted dynamite attack on cabin near Dillon described

Martin Kiviskov, once of Butte, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of attempting to blow up a cabin occupied by Ruth Fink in the Cabbage Patch. Officers Gordon and Sutherland found a handmade explosive in a bureau drawer after a quarrel at Fink’s home. Kiviskov claims innocence and calls the arrest a frameup.

New Dormitory Plans for Men Students Outlined

A proposal to build a new dormitory for men at the Normal College cites rising male enrollment from 1920 to 1982. The plan, tied to Reconstruction Fin and Commons renovations, would increase capacity for women as well by restructuring space in the middle and old halls for improved operation and housing.

Lima Resident Dies After Brief Illness

Herman Tenhaaf, 65, a Lima blacksmith for years and native of Dubuque Iowa, died after a brief illness on Thursday. A sister Mrs. Harry Hurley of Lima survives. Funeral held Saturday at 2 PM from Brundage chapel with Rev. J A Meeke of the Methodist church officiating.

Democrats open campaign office at Andrus hotel

At a Beaverhead county Democratic meeting the committee voted to open campaign headquarters in Room 15 at the Andrus hotel. Harry J. Andrus announced the office is equipped and ready for use with literature planned to inform voters about the platform and candidates. The group favors economy and foresees activity at headquarters in coming weeks.

Graeter vs Dillon Finance case ends night session

A Tuesday night district court session completed evidence in the civil suit of W A Graeter against the Dillon Finance Corp. The case is continued pending briefs from opposing counsel. Plaintiff’s counsel: Rodgers Collins of Dillon. Defendants’ counsel: J E Kelly of Dillon and J A Poore of Butte.

Red Cross Roll Call Opens in Beaverhead Next Week
