The Montana State Normal College opened September 9 for its twenty third year with enrollment exceeding expectations despite drought and economic strain. The faculty adds two new instructors and the project to expand facilities includes four new rooms and a new building to house kindergarten primary and manual training. Dr. Grant E. Finch returns as training school director and enrollment nears six hundred as plans proceed for foundations this fall.

Quick Action on a Check Forgery Case
On Wednesday at five o'clock B E Phillips forged checks signing R J Selway for 28 50 each. He was arraigned Thursday morning in district court pleading guilty and was sentenced to two and a half to five years at the state penitentiary. He began serving the sentence within forty eight hours of the crime.

Cow Chases Moonlit Ride In Real Automobile
A Dillon lawyer recounts a moonlit night voyage in Madison county when a soft eyed cow wandered to the roadside and tried to board a passing car. Last Saturday night two cars collided just above the Selway curve on the road to Dillmont park. Despite occupants in both vehicles none were seriously injured. Bright lights from one car blinded the other as the curve was approached. both cars sustained only light damage.
