Arthur Brisbane surveys labor, defense, and social issues with satirical riffs on Mr. Green of the AFL, preparedness, and a parade of figures from TB to tuberculosis, Rockfeller, Fosdick, Straton, and Yale economist Irving Fisher, ending with a cue to continue on page four.
The report by Dan D. Casement endorses the forest service method for appraising range values and setting grazing fees in national forests, but recommends smaller increases than proposed. Secretary Jardine will hold a final conference with stockmen in Salt Lake City late January, after Casement’s Dillon visit and a local meeting with J. H. Gilbert, Dale Metlen, and A. L. Stone.

The Moroni Olsen players presented Dear Brutus in Dillon for the fourth time, thrilling two audiences with Barries atmosphere and character. Janet Young, Donna Jones and Leora Thatcher stood out beside veterans Dorothy Adams and Byron Foulger as the company conveyed the dreamlike forest and the play's themes of longing and discontent.
Eugene Bond chairs the one day Dillon Red Cross fund drive as many old members renew pledges and many new join. Fred Rife reports the drive went over well and thanks the high school faculty and girls for their efforts. Four booths performed well and plans for the tuberculosis seal sale next Saturday are led by Mrs Mugene Bond with hopes for wide community participation and funds for clinics health lectures and school material.
U S agriculture bulletin says Montana winter feeding for cattle sheep and lambs may rise from last season except Big Hole basin hay. Pulp and grain seed supplies rise in Billings Sidney Chinook, hay steady though pricier. Lamb and sheep feeding expected to exceed last year, with major gains in Iowa Michigan Illinois and Rocky Mountain states. Market activity shows heavier marketings and earlier movement toward December. Dixie LaHood, the Butte boxer, visited Dillon for Thanksgiving.
Beaverhead county mourns as Mrs Ola C Burden dies Wednesday afternoon after a prolonged illness. A Dillon resident, she was born 45 years ago to C C Cornell and a Beaverhead pioneer family. Survived by husband C H Burden father C C Cornell sister Mrs George W Murray and brother Roscoe Cornell, funeral Friday at 2 pm at the Methodist church with Eastern Star rites and burial in Mountain View.
The Gargoyles present Mamma's Affair a three act comedy by Rachel Barton Butler winner of the Morosco prize in 1925. The plot centers on Mrs Orrin a hypochondriac whose actions unsettle Eve and others until Dr Jansen and the housekeeper Mrs Bundy help unravel the situation with comic relief from Tommy the bell-hop. Dorothy Hirschman and Eleanor Dillon play Mrs Orrin and Eve.
Santa Claus will visit the Eliel Bros. store on Saturday afternoon December 11 to hear Dillon children’s Christmas wishes and gift each child a present. The store features a new toy line with mechanical toys, dolls, games, and playthings. A free motion picture show titled Circus Fever will be shown Saturday November 27 at 10 am for all children.
Gretchen Gayhart of Kalispell plays Mrs Marchant and Martha Allan of Livingston plays Mrs Bundy. Kenneth MacDermand appears as Dr Jansen with Albert Gilbert of Livingston as Henry Marchant and LeRoy Emerson of Butte as the bellhop. Justin Brundage returns from Anaconda after an appendicitis operation.
At the Dillon Rotary Club gathering in the Andrus dining room Reverend Ernest Loft spoke on Thanksgiving origins and meaning. Members listed reasons for gratitude including health, business gains, snow, and a hopeful 1927 outlook with several unique and humorous replies. A. F. Waldorf led the meeting.
St Rose guild will hold its annual dance at city hall on Saturday evening November 27 with Baxter Tonney orchestra. The bazaar will be at the Yeaman Building during the day offering gifts and useful items. A coal prize donated by Standard Lumber & Coal will go to the holder of a lucky number. Mrs Carl Olsen returned to Salt Lake City with her father Henry Gleed Jr.
