Sometime last Monday night or early Tuesday morning death claimed Matt Von Trieb at his quarters in the basement of the courthouse. He had risen for cough medicine and was found reclining on his bed by janitor George Opp the next morning. Known for a long life of travel and memory he was born about 1840 in Washington county Pennsylvania to Alsace French immigrant parents. He spoke French German Dutch and English and married a noted Philadelphia musician in early adulthood. The Civil War era tale hints at romance and a life filled with recollections.

Alien Veterans to Be Examined for City Citizenship
Fred Rife, clerk of the court, announces P. J. Phillips from Salt Lake City will attend court on December 9 to examine World War I veterans for citizenship. Bring in horses drive ends big cleanup in Centennial valley
