Sugar beet factory would lift Beaverhead county economy
The piece argues a sugar beet industry could yield about 103 dollars per person annually in Beaverhead and adjoining valleys if 5,000 acres are grown and a million dollar factory built in Dillon. It cites potential gains from beet pulp, employment, land values, and broader business growth, noting a rough year with imperfect supervision and equipment but potential improvement with experience. It also notes John A. West suffered a serious arm injury in a timber accident.
