Child Victim Of Illness at Dillon Home
Merle Dean Bostwick two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs G H Bostwick died Monday night at 8 at her Dillon home after six months of illness from a weak heart and complications. She spent six weeks in an oxygen tent in Butte last spring and improved in summer before failing. Surviving are her parents a brother Maurice Gene grandparents Mr and Mrs I B Carroll and grandmother Mrs Lucia Bostwick. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with interment in Mountain View cemetery.

Logan man injured in auto accident on Highway 91
Joseph Hodges of Logan Utah is hospitalized at Barrett with injuries from a Saturday night crash on Highway 91 near the Mike Rebish place. His car driven by J A Allred also of Logan lost control on loose gravel, veered into a bar pit, and was carried to Dillon by passing motorists.

REA Advances Jefferson Valley Extension Project
REA reports progress on the Jefferson Valley Rural Electric Cooperative extension into Beaverhead valley and Glenn-Melrose district. Youths Deny Car Theft Charge In Justice Court
Burton Bachellor 19 and Terry O'Hara 23 pleaded not guilty to a car theft charge in justice court before Judge Louis Stahl. They were bound over to district court in $1000 bonds each after officers arrested them in Rocker for allegedly stealing Fred Gruiff’s car from a Butte street. the vehicle stalled when out of gas.

Grasshopper and Cricket Survey in County Shows Little Threat
Entomologists Harold Willis and Howard K. Welch from Montana State College conducted an egg survey of grasshoppers and Mormon crickets in the county last week. Findings suggest no major inroads for 1939 as crop land damage this past summer was negligible, with limited impact on Melrose district range land due to past poison bait use and favorable weather.

Highway Patrol Seizes Several Violators in Latest Citations
Montana state highway patrolman Wendell Hooper of Dubois Idaho reported multiple summonses issued in recent days. Death claims well known Dillon man George Stimpson
Death of George C. Stimpson 65 a Dillon resident and county farm superintendent occurred Wednesday at Barrett hospital after several days illness. Born October 30 1873 in Pennsylvania he lived in Missouri before settling in Beaverhead county in 1899 where he ranching and later county farm superintendent. Survived by wife Goldie Jenson a brother Ira of Honeywell Mo a sister Mrs Alta Hatton also of Honeywell and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements pending word from relatives with body at Brundage funeral home.

Rotary Club Hears Talk On Sound By Dr Shue
Dr George L Shue of the Montana School of Mines spoke on sound and what constitutes it. He described pitch loudness and timbre and noted radio broadcasts miss high frequencies. He explained acoustic limits for ears and telephones and discussed room acoustics echoes and radio reception. Guests included Professor Walter Scott and Art Halls and the club invited members to a November mining city meeting to hear an Alaska speaker.
