State Educational Board visits Dillon for site selection
The State Board of Education led by Governor Rickards visited Dillon to evaluate three proposed Normal School sites. After tours and public testimony, the Bishop site was initially chosen but later the Poindexter Orr ground near Dillon and Atlantic streets was accepted. The board praised Dillon hospitality and formed a local executive committee to manage arrangements.

Wreck halts locomotive crew saved by brakeman
