Court Matters From Last Week Include Guilty Pleas
Carl Dahn and J. W. Latham pleaded guilty to grand larceny and burglary before Judge Smith and received sentences of one to two years in the state penitentiary. Dahn’s alleged robbery occurred at Monida with Dick Anderson as they fled across the Idaho line in a borrowed car. Latham, described as a "bad customer," had prior offenses including sheep pelts theft and a recent check-forging incident. Both were taken to Deer Lodge by Sheriff Wian. Also, Mrs. Courtney was declared insane and sent to Warm Springs. Marriage licenses issued included Edward Williams and Minnie Wallace of Howe and Careywood, plus Ray Stanfield with Cora Hails and Carl Hartwig with Lucille Sharkey. A masked bandit robbed the Brenner auto near Grant but fled. no identification. Prohibition enforcement noted as unusually strict in the county.

Weekend Social Notes From Dillon High Outlook
Miss Parr, Miss Snyder and Miss King spent the weekend in Butte. Miss Milkwick and Miss Larson visited Anaconda and Larson saw her brother back from war. Acting President Mosher returned from a two week high school visitation trip and will head to Missoula for a day or two. Senior girls picnicked at Lover's Leap. Chancellor Elliott spoke at a convocation. Professor Clark toured southwestern Montana on a high school visitation trip. Seidensticker and Robbins vacationed at Bend. Perl Brown will teach grades one through four in Armstead next year. A group of senior girls also enjoyed an allyday picnic. Mrs Jennie Nash left for Can ton, South Dakota to visit friends. Tom Pierce of Grant spent Tuesday in Dillon. Mrs Grant E Finch is home from Spokane and will spend the summer in Dillon.

Helena Montana May 12 More than 30000 in cash premiums have been appropriated by the Montana State Fair for distribution among exhibitors at the Victory Exposition September 8 18 with an additional 5000 in special premiums from National Breeders Associations and Institutions. The 1919 premium catalog outlines rules for Horses Cattle Sheep Goats Swine Poultry Farm Products Fruits and Flowers Dairy Domestic Science Art and Education and explains County Collective Exhibits and county board authority to fund displays. Training School Track Meet Sets Fresh Records at May Event
The Training School held its annual track meet on the Normal field May 1. Arthur Harris and Allen Dansie led with multiple firsts and new marks. Harris beat the 100 yard dash record by a fifth of a second and Dansie set four records in class and relay events. Elmer Dunn won three firsts with a new shot put record. Murray and Hignight posted top marks in high jump and related events. Bronze medals will honor Harris, Murray, Olmsted, and Heavy for consecutive firsts.

Joseph E. Monroe former president of Montana State Normal College has joined State Bank of Dillon as co manager alongside Mr Stone. He came to Dillon in 1897 and led the Normal College till his March resignation. Monroe, lauded as civic minded, was elected Dillon mayor in a recent vote. The bank marks twenty years on August 1.

A 68 year old man, Carl in, died Monday morning at Curtis hospital from an unspecified illness. The remains were shipped Wednesday afternoon to Belfour North Dakota.

City awards street paving and lighting contracts
The city council awarded paving and street lighting bids to Clifton Applegate and Toole of Anaconda and The National Electric company of Butte. Reinforced concrete paving will be 6 to 8 inches thick with steel expansion joints and a 30 day start window plus weather dependent completion.
