Table Setting Contest at Hubers Jewelry Store

The home science girls at the high school conduct an annual table setting contest at Hubers jewelry store. Ten girls form five teams and prepare one display table each day from Monday through Friday. Cochran Couple Mark Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs J L Cochran long time county residents celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last Saturday at their East Orr Street home. Cochran served as a Union army captain in the Civil War and later worked in mining in the Elkhorn district while retaining mining interests. They have resided in Dillon in recent years.

Soisture Proves of Great Benefit to Crops of State

A joint statement from federal and state agriculture departments notes favorable early seeding and timely rains boosting crops. Old-Time Herder Dies at Barrett Hospital

James Peebles aged 73 died after a brief illness at Barrett hospital late Monday. Funeral from Brundage chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. burial in Mountain View cemetery. Born in Pennsylvania he moved to Montana about 40 years ago and worked as a ranch hand and sheep herder on many large ranches. He lived in Beaverhead County for six years. Relatives in Pennsylvania were notified.

Electric Shop Unveils Lighted Montana Street Sign

The Electric shop on Montana street installed a large illuminated sign that creates a metropolitan look. The sign reads “lectric Shop” with letters lighting in sequence, then darkening before repeating the performance.
