The group pledges junior men in the journalism school who show outstanding work and solid academic standing in both the college and journalism programs.

Dwight Williams an 18 year old Vaughn Montana 4 H member claimed the western states farm accounting championship for 1936 37 He kept a complete 320 acre farm record and his report focused on machinery weather market reports and soil conservation He wins 225 merchandise prize from International Harvester while relinquishing his 100 state prize to John Vukonich of Joliet and Jean Ball of Great Falls receives Williams 10 county prize.

May Fete Presented At Normal College Friday
Three hundred students from training school and college will perform in the annual May Fete at Normal College Friday. The production Toy Land ends with the crowning of eight May Fete queen elects Dorothy Blackburn Emma Hughes Edith Nelson Thelma Bartlett and Elena Slepcevich. The queen will be crowned as the Toy Land march plays by the Little Symphony orchestra directed by Ralph McFadden. The event is directed by the Women’s Athletic Association under Miss Marjorie Hamer with performances by women students and the Normal Men’s Glee Club led by Arnold Clair singing several songs. The tale centers on the Painted Doll with numerous dolls from a child’s book dancing and performing during the reign. The finale crowns the queen with the Painted Doll wedding.

Beaverhead and city authorities campaign against negligent drivers reports two weekend arrests. Jake Stelle, rancher from Sweetwater, was charged with no headlights and drunken driving, arraigned before Judge George Opp and fined 50 dollars. He was later fined 25 dollars for failing to display 1937 license plates. Mike Stager, nearby rancher, was arrested Sunday for driving without lights and drunken driving, arraigned Monday before Judge Louis Stahl and fined 25 dollars. Officers note seven drunken drivers fined 50 to 100 dollars in two months.

Rotary hears fur farm talk on chinchilla import plan
Roy Forrester, Dillon fur farmer, told Rotary members that Beaverhead county could gain a valuable fur industry with seven imported chinchilla pairs from Idaho Falls. Each pair valued at 3200 dollars, they will be raised as one unit in Dillon, stirring plans for pens and a fifth chinchilla ranch locally. Mink and silver fox farming expand in the area since 1926 with eight ranches and 375 silver foxes valued at 75000 dollars, plus 145 female mink and 580 kittens valued at 11600 dollars. Delegates T. E. Luebben and R. E. Albright reported on Lewistown Rotary convention. Harold Snow presided.
