Baby Girl Drowns in Irrigation Ditch Near Shady Nook Camp
Darlene Gleason two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Leon Gleason fell into an irrigation ditch at the Shady Nook cabin camp north of the city. Her body was found about one hundred yards below the cabin by James Melton. Doctors reported she was unconscious on arrival and little water was in her lungs. The family recently moved from Great Falls and the remains were shipped there for interment Tuesday.

Harold Snow Elected Rotary President in Dixon
At a Dil ton Rotary Club meeting Harold Snow manager of the Mountain States Telephone exchange was chosen president for the ensuing year. He succeeds R E Albright who becomes vice president. Albright acted as chairman as the kindergarten band performed and James McCulley announced he will represent the Normal college in the state oratorical contest in Bozeman on Thursday. Other board members named were Rush Jordan Charles H. Niblack and EB Sandvig.

About 275 pupils from Dillon's training school presented a Friday evening concert in the auditorium under Mrs Grace Redburn and the training school faculty with Mrs Charlotte Ballard as accompanist. Montana Pioneer James Ballou Hawkins Dies at 89
James Ballou Hawkins a longtime Montana figure and former Texas Ranger who served as sheriff and U S marshal in Miles City died at 89 after a brief illness. Born July 10 1847 in Utica New York he chased the Chisholm trail rode with Sitting Bull era scouts and later moved to Dillon where he lived. He was married to Nancie E Watson and is survived by relatives including Nan King and L R Orr with funeral planned at 2 pm Friday at the Masonic hall.

Veteran Dillon Barber Dies After Lingering Illness
Edwin G. Farnsworth, 68, longtime Dillon resident and barber, died Thursday at Barrett Hospital after a lingering illness. Born January 13, 1868 in St. Cloud, he lived in Deer Lodge county for 33 years and ran a barber shop and did real estate. He later lived in Wisdom and was active in Apollo Lodge I O F and Virginia City Elks. Funeral services were held Monday at Brundage chapel with Rev. J A Meeke officiating and burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

About sixty young musicians from Dillon training school and Lima public school performed a joint concert at the local school auditorium drawing a capacity audience. Directors were L. A. Gregory for Dillon and Miss Gladys Burtch for Lima with Ruth Koenig Helen Burt and Mrs A I Cashmore as accompanists. The program featured several sections including Moonbeams Serenade Red Feather Indian dance Polka Petite Cavalcade and School Memories among others performed by orchestra string and training school ensembles.
