Beaverhead shale lease fuels new oil company venture
Smallhorn Oil Shale Co. leases 320 acres plus a large patented tract to Bea verhead Shale Products, a new concern formed by W. S. Pyle. The project, already backed by an operating parent in Colorado, plans surveys within six weeks and four months of construction, with first production expected early next year. The pupils of L A Gregory and the entire training school orchestra gave a fine concert at the training school Tuesday night. A large audience enjoyed the performance and praised Prof Gregory for organizing and training the young performers. About 40 boys and girls participated, delivering difficult music with skill. County Board Secures Rights of Way for State Highway
In a May session the county board completed land acquisitions along the northern strip for the proposed state highway. Rights of way from Woods Livestock, Henry Lehman, Beaverhead Ranch, and Mrs. Joe Browne totaling about 43 acres were paid for with fencing costs. other offers were rejected as too high. Construction bids to be advertised soon with work hoped to start by June 1.
