No County Fair Called Off In Dillon This Fall
County commissioners and Beaverhead Fair association decide no county fair will be held this autumn due to expected expenses. They also create a gopher extermination district between Dillon and Point of Rocks with Ned Saunders Quitman Owen and Charles Wilson named as exterminators. The board approves reducing county public money interest to 1 percent and orders appraisers for preliminary tax deed land sales.

Beaverhead County Plans Bicentennial Washington Tests
Beaverhead county committee met on March 4 to plan district and final events celebrating George Washington's birthday between February 22 and Thanksgiving. District contests are set for Lima on March 19 at 2 p m in the high school gym and training school auditorium with north and south divisions. The final contest follows on April 2 with a winner advancing to state contests in Butte.

City registration totals rise for Dillon and Lima
The municipal election lists for Dillon and Lima show increases over 1931. Dillon has 1,211 registered voters and Lima 204, up 40 and 31 respectively. Albert Baker, clerk and recorder, compiled the tabulation posted last week.

Pioneer Resident of Madison County Dies
H M Brundage was summoned to Twin Bridges Saturday evening to handle the remains of Mrs Augusta Darnutzer a pioneer matron of the county. She died that afternoon at her daughter Mrs Augusta Foord home aged 82. She had lived in the area since the 1870s. Funeral services were held at the Twin Bridges Methodist church and interment was in the Point of Stocks cemetery. Surviving relatives include two sons Carl and James Darnutzer of McHessor besides her daughter.

Courtney will contest ends with verdict for plaintiffs
A long civil action in the district court concluded Saturday night with a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs in the Magpie Courtney will case. Heirs claimed Mrs Courtney was mentally incompetent when she made the will leaving her estate to friends. The jury, 9 to 8, favored setting aside the will after a trial with 40 witnesses. Judge Bennett vacated remaining spring docket items and court will reconvene in April or May.

Rainbow Circus Pleases Crowd At Local High School Event
The high school gym was packed last Saturday as the local Rainbow Circle staged a circus with music dance boxing and booths. Proceeds benefit a crippled child for a summer camp. Featured acts included the girls band rope riddles student dances and a minstrel number with tap routines whistling and a clown act.

Mrs. R. E. Ober, longtime Dillon resident, died suddenly at St. Luke hospital in Duluth on February 19 after a major operation. Her husband ran a ranch on the east bench and served as county surveyor. Mrs. James Kirkpatrick is an aunt, and J. W. Nattrass is a cousin.

Destructive Fires Burn Two Homes In One Night
In Dillon two separate blazes struck within a half hour. The first fire at a bunk house on the John Tessier ranch near the north part of town burned quickly, fuelled by an overheated stove or wiring short. The second blaze on Barhott Avenue at Joseph Guerre’s residence also spread rapidly, destroying the house before firefighters could fully contain it.

New Music Courses At Normal School Add Piano Violin Study
Spring quarter at Montana State Normal College begins March 21 with new offerings. Ralph Meladden leads piano group instruction at reduced rate for beginners and close classes. Frances Robinson handles two violin classes for beginners and those with some instruction, each earning one credit. Bulldogs win two games at Billings in series
Coach Breeden's Bulldogs beat Eastern Montana Normal 59 48 on Friday at Billings with Callahan scoring 33 points to help overcome late danger as Dillon teachers aided the offense. On Saturday the Bulldogs completed the sweep with a 50 30 victory in a dull second game.
