Legion Show Makes Hit At Two Performances
Capacity audiences proclaimed the annual minstrel and vaudeville show the best amateur production in the city. The home talent program featured six acts with tuneful, colorful numbers from Elizabeth Ballard pupils to the minstrel chorus, plus a wartime skit and a Scotch impersonation. Notables included Billie Batter, Helen Wheat, Ilene Jackson, June Emerson, Virginia Randolph, Fred Gray, and John Vanderark, with direction by Mira Booth and Edith Hughes.

Fire devastates Salmon business block in Idaho town
A blaze in Salmon destroyed six business buildings including White's clothing store and the Masonic temple. The estimated loss reached 160000 with about half insured. Legion thanks patrons for support of annual Hartwig show
Beaverhead post of the American Legion extends thanks to Dillon and Beaverhead County residents who attended the Hartwig stage production Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Proceeds will fund improvements to the Legion plot at Mountain View cemetery including sodding and tree planting this spring. Audience size remained similar both evenings as acts were refined and the show went over well.

Three youths held after home run attempt reported
Three youths were apprehended Monday by police after attempting to run away from home. Local Officials Reassess Aid and Withdraw Pensions
County commissioners, meeting Wednesday, approved a new aid schedule for the indigent including old age pensioners. Investigations since the last session led to separate reviews of each case with tailored allowances. In two instances old age pensions were wholly withdrawn.
Fairbanks Patriarch Augustin J. Fairbanks Dies at 99
Augustin J. Fairbanks father of Prof. E L Fairbanks of this city died Thursday after a lingering illness at his home 606 South Atlantic street He was born January 30 1852 in New York and farmed nearly fifty years later living with his son since 1929 He is survived by his widow two other sons in Washington and Prof Fairbanks Funeral services were held Saturday at the Baptist church with Rev R O Shannon officiating and burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

Beaverhead County Road Contract Awarded to J C Magwire
A contract for gravelling and oiling 27.794 miles in Beaverhead county was let in Helena to J C Magwire of Butte for 155647.15 dollars. The project runs from Dillon to south of Redrock, forming an unbroken oiled highway from Butte to Redrock once all projects finish. The state commission approved 22 road projects, described as the largest road-improvement expenditure in the state’s history.

William H. Sharpe 61 longtime ranch employee died at Barrett hospital after a two day illness. A New York native who lived in the area 17 years and Montana 33 years he was known for his generosity and steady work. He leaves a sister in Wisconsin and a brother in New Jersey. Funeral is set for Friday afternoon at Brundage chapel with Rev F X Lechner of St Rosa Catholic church officiating.
