The American Red Cross calls for 100 million dollars immediately to aid service for soldiers in the field and camp. Its efficiency has earned Government trust and it is ranked second in importance to the army itself, prompting citizen donations before week’s end.
Mrs. George E. Jewell passed away in Seattle Washington June 16 after two weeks illness. Cause was pneumonia following general health decline. She died at the home of Mrs Iris Burfiend whom she visited with her two daughters, the Misses Peterson. Mr. Jewell and son Dan were at the bed when she died. Body brought to Dillon and the funeral held at Grace M E church with Eastern Star ceremony. She lies in Mountain View cemetery.
The state fair will feature the Boys and Girls Club department with four representatives from each county. Winners receive a free trip to the state fair and diverse prizes for potato, corn, garden canning, and vegetable exhibits including cash awards and the Empire Dream seed packet. Registration and record books are required from contestants via M. J. Abbey Bozeman Montana. Oregon Short Line hires workers to lay new rails north of Melrose and ships old rails south.
