Beaverhead Pioneer Mike Herr Dies in Bannack Mine Accident

Beav erhead county mourns as Mike Herr a longtime Bannack resident and prospector is killed by a falling boulder at his claim near Bannack. The coroner’s inquest ruled accidental death and the funeral was held at Bannack cemetery with survivors including son Forest and daughters Alice and Coral. Herr born 1842 in Pennsylvania came to Montana in the 1860s aiding local development and Indian peace efforts. he was widely respected for generosity and bravery.

Popular Young People wed at Anaconda

Miss Mamie McIntosh and Goldie J. Thompson married at the Lathrop home in Anaconda with Rev. Dr. Ware officiating. They planned a brief coast honeymoon and will reside in Dell. The bride, Dillon’s former teacher, is a State Normal graduate and popular figure. the groom, a rising merchant from Dell, has ties to Lima firms and now co-owns Gleed & Thompson.

Dillon and Lima Meet in Second Baseball Game

Dillon and Lima clubs prepare for a big Sunday afternoon game with a $200 purse and all gate receipts to boost the players. The series resumes after Dillon won the first game two Sundays ago as fans anticipate a competitive contest.

Miss Florence Grace Graeter graduated Tuesday from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. A group of her Dillon friends received invitations and admission tickets to the graduation exercises, and her many friends will be glad to have her home again.

Normal College Commencement Plans Announced

The ninth annual Montana State Normal College commencement is set for June with a 24 member senior class led by officers E Vin Burton Florence A Goodson Anna A Sicora Elizabeth M Snook. The calendar lists ceremonies from June 15 to 22 including a baccalaureate sermon and diploma presentations.

The Dillon board met for the June session and approved multiple road petitions including a public wagon road on Wise River and a challenging re-routed segment near Argenta. They also filled local offices, set jail bids, granted saloon licenses, and audited county finances totaling 7122.54 across several funds.

Death of former Dillon lady Isola Murray in Santa Ana

Mrs Isola B Murray aged 55 died in Santa Ana on May 27 1906 after six weeks illness from heart trouble. Born January 14 1851 in Elgin Illinois she lived in Dillon Montana before moving to Santa Ana in 1895. She leaves husband J W Murray daughter Edna sister Mrs Booth Illinois relatives and many friends. She was a charter member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and active in Santa Ana Hive L C T M Women’s Relief Corps and Order of Pendo.

Twin Bridges Won as Dillon Faces Mixed Team

Dillon baseball club traveled to Twin Bridges last Sunday for a game. Sheridan canceled a planned match, and Dillon played a picked team with six Sheridan, two Twin Bridges and one Whitehall player, losing 11 to 5. Thomas E. G. Lynch returned from the Copper Queen mine and reported two new air drills speeding shaft work.

Voter Registry Agents Appointed Across County Districts

The board of county commissioners named registry agents and voting locations for nine districts with home offices in Dillon Argenta Birch creek Bannack Bedrock Lima Dell Hecla Dewey Wisdom Jackson and more. Miss Alice Herr of Bannack, visiting Dillon, is summoned back to Bannack by her father's death.

Annual athletic meet at state Normal college held

The state Normal college in this city held its annual athletic meet at the college field last Saturday afternoon in front of several hundred spectators. A summer shower paused events briefly, with Prof. Robbins as officer of the day and judges named. Walter Poindexter led with 43 points earning the gold medal, followed by Henry Melton with 29 and Will Chapman with 16. Nine students competed across thirteen events, with tight finishes in sprints and field events.
