The Jefferson Valley Rural Electrification cooperative reports that at least 76 percent of homes to be served must be wired or have wiring contracts signed before construction starts. REA funds assist loans for wiring. applications go to the Twin Bridges office. Contractors expect to begin pole-hole digging next week for 173 miles of new line in Madison, Beaverhead and Silver Bow counties, with poles from L. D. McFarland Co and wire from Anaconda Wire and Cable. Total project cost reaches about 200,956 dollars and will provide substantial employment.

Washington Tourist Dies in Car Near Trading Station
Joseph W. Raver of Sunnyside Washington died Thursday morning while seated in his car across from the Farmers' Union Trading station on South Montana street in Dillon. He had arrived with his son Charles from Idaho via the Trail Creek pass and was 78 years old. Attending physician Dr Geo Routledge said the man probably died of a heart attack.

Mrs. Sophia Goodspeed 61 a Bannack native and Barrett hospital patient died after a three week illness. She was born October 4 1877 in Bannack Beaverhead county daughter of Frank and unknown Gauthier pioneer residents. Forgery Suspect Sentenced Four Years in State Prison
Aaron Bittner pleaded guilty to a forgery charge in district court before Judge Henry G. Rodgers and received a four year sentence. He allegedly tried to pass a forged check with a fictitious signature at a local establishment weeks earlier. The check, found under a car running board, was reportedly assembled in a jig slow fashion and Bittner admitted writing it. He was taken to the state penitentiary at Deeridge by Under sheriff John Troupe on Saturday.
