Officer captures thief aboard freight train in Northbound fright

Fred Oliver nabbed a suspect in a box car on a northbound freight train after Dr. F M Poindexter reported a missing fur overcoat from his office. The man faced Justice Hirschman and was fined $100 to be served in jail.

Poor Exhibition As Dillon Beats Out Of Town Visitors

A Sunday ball game at the fair grounds ended 21 to 4 with a visiting team from Butte failing to play well. The Dillon Independents faced disappointing play and earned a clear win. Next Sunday Anaconda’s top independent team, chasing the state title, will visit Dillon for a likely tougher matchup.

Lima defendant convicted in saddle theft case

Attorney J B Poindexter and County Attorney Melton traveled to Lima to defend and prosecute Columbus Bingham on a petit larceny charge. Bingham, accused of stealing a saddle from Hiram Gulbrensen of Lima, was arrested at St Anthony Idaho and brought back for trial before Justice Noble. He was convicted and fined ten dollars with sentence suspended.

Two Men Arrested in Dillon for Burglary

Two strangers in Dillon were arrested on burglary charges after entering the house of Mrs. Nellie Worden who had just moved there. A child's savings bank was broken open with a rock and its contents taken. Preliminary hearing is set before Justice Hirschman tomorrow morning.

Judge Martin Dies at County Farm After Miner’s Long Quest

Beaverhead County records the death of Judge Martin at the county poor farm after a life spent in Bannack mining and horse prairie ventures. Born in Ireland in 1819, he refused a lucrative home, preferred the prospecting life, and died a pauper from cancer, with burial at Mountain View cemetery.
