Montana bids opened for long U S 91 segment and bridge
The Montana state highway commission invited bids by July 16 for a 15.936 mile extension of U.S. 91 south from last year’s end to near Bedrock and for a 68 foot reinforced concrete bridge over Horse Prairie creek. This marks the longest single project opened in three years, while wool market activity shows a week long rise with prices around 23 to 28 cents and large local lots sold.

Former Resident Mary Ritchie Dies at Warm Springs
Miss Mary Ritchie a former Dillon resident died last Monday at Warm Springs aged 52. The body arrived in Dillon that evening by H M Brundage. A London England native she lived in Dillon for years. Survived by a Vancouver sister and a Lethbridge Canada brother. Funeral Thursday at Brundage chapel with Rev H N Tragitt officiating and interment in Mountain View Episcopal plot. St James choir assisted in services.

Young Boy Jerry Covalt Dies in Los Angeles
Jerry Covalt twelve year old son of Mrs Ethel Covalt formerly of Dillon died in Los Angeles after a brief illness from infantile paralysis. He visited Dillon often before the move to California and is survived by his mother two sisters Jeanne and Velma Anne, several aunts and an uncle. Interment was in Los Angeles.

High grade wool sold by Lima firm Cantrell and Henderson
Tom Cantrell acting for Cantrell and Henderson of Lima sold a wool clip of 2,000 fleeces Wednesday morning to Farquhar of Avery and Farquhar Boston. Price paid was 24 1/4 cents per pound. The clip was unusually good and reflects credit on the owners and producers.

Cornerstone Laid at First National Bank Building
The cornerstone of the First National Bank building on Montana Street was laid Wednesday. A copper box 9 by 18 inches was embedded in the stone, containing bank records, copies of the Dillon Tribune and Examiner, a history of the bank, its charter dated February 7, 1884, and relics of Beaverhead County.

Esteemed Matron Succumbs Monday In Dillon and Butte
Miss Marjorie Williams of Dillon and Mrs Catherine Sharkey of Butte, prominent local figures, are reported in recent notices. Williams accompanied by Mr Willard Critz spent a weekend in Pittsburgh visiting relatives and attending events. Sharkey died Monday at Barrett hospital after months of illness. she leaves a daughter and son, eight grandchildren, and siblings in Michigan. Funeral services were held in Butte with a requiem high mass at Immaculate Conception and burial at Holy Cross cemetery.

County Commission Adjourns After Busy Session
The board adjourned Tuesday after a busy session. Commissioner Gosman will travel to Helena with County Attorney T. K. Gilbert to discuss county business with the attorney general. Popular Dillon Girl Dies in Los Angeles Hospital
Miss Mildred Peterson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Sam Peterson prominent ranch people of the Big Hole basin, died about 2 o clock Thursday morning at a Los Angeles hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage caused by injuries in an automobile crash a week earlier. She spent her life in the Big Hole basin, graduated from the local high school, went to California last year, and was training as a nurse at Los Angeles General Hospital. Her parents, sister Mrs Dysert Gowen of Dillon, and several brothers survive.
