CHECK ARTIST HELD AFTER LONG CHASE
Undersheriff Carl Hartwig arrested Ed Rogers in a freight car at the Dillon yards as the train prepared to leave. Rogers led a long chase and escaped briefly before being found hiding in Melrose and returned to Dillon. He forged checks including one for 47 50 and carried two others. He pleaded guilty in district court and was sentenced to five to ten years in the state prison.

Leonard Eliel a pioneering Dillon merchant celebrated his eighty second birthday on July 4 with friends visiting the Eliel residence on South Washington Street and a dinner in his honor. Huge Fokker plane opens air mail route to Dillon
The Fokker Super Universal monoplane, to be used by Commander Richard Byrd on his south pole flight, passed Dillon last Saturday after 2 pm en route from Salt Lake to Great Falls. It officially opened the new air mail route between Salt Lake and Great Falls, with service starting after August 1. The six passenger capacity craft drew crowds at each stop including the aerial circus in Butte.

Funeral services were held in Butte last Friday afternoon for Jean Bates 11 daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence C Bates of Butte following a long illness.
