Patents Issued For Lands Across Centennial Valley and Nearby Areas

This week at the land office L. J. Price issued patents for O. O. Barnett Susan J. Barnett William Olimer and Ewing Combs for parcels along Middle Creek and West Creek in Centennial valley. Additional patents went to L. Rice near Apex Marcellin Pyle on Graeshopper W. Bryant near Jackson and W. G. Blair on Horse Prairie.

Destructive early morning fire devastates old Center street block

A blaze at 3 15 AM destroyed Sun Yuen Chinese store and laundry F P Harrisons second hand store and Pigg s lunch on Center street. The loss ranges from 3000 to 4000 on goods plus 500 on the laundry building with minor damage to the Eliel building glass. Several outbuildings and poles burned, with bystanders aiding and some residents escaping in night clothes. The cause is believed to be an overturned stove in the laundry drying room.

Coe Commission Co. Expands to Dillon Montana

Dillion reports that Coe Commission Co founder D Coe now runs offices west of Minneapolis from Butte and has established a Dillon branch. An office is in the B F White building near the telephone office with W A Hinkley in charge and ready to provide up to date stock quotations via the company leased wire. An announcement appears elsewhere in the paper.

State Bank Officers Re-Elected At Annual Meeting

At a recent stockholders meeting the same officers who served the past year were reelected. F. L. Graves remains president and Wm. Roe continues as vice president. A. L. Stone remains cashier with Graves, Roe, Shineberger, Barrett, Graeter, and Stone named as directors.

Richard A Reynolds Dies. Beaverhead Leader Laid to Rest

Richard A Reynolds longtime Beaverhead county rancher and stockman died after paralysis lasting from Tuesday of last week. Born May 13 1842 in Montgomeryshire Wales he served in the 30th Wisconsin Infantry then crossed to Montana in 1866. He married Jennie Johnson in 1871 and Della Thompson in 1887. Funeral at the Methodist Episcopal church was large with interment at Poindexter cemetery.

Evans G Innes Weds Florence Bryney in Butte

Evans G Innes a popular Dillon youth married Florence Bryney of Walkerville in Butte on January 2. They soon left for Portland on a wedding trip and plan to return to Montana where Innes will work with A Anderson at the Union Market. Relatives await his return with anticipation.

Death of Charles Herman in Florence Montana 1904

Charles Herman died at his Florence home on January 3 1904 from pneumonia. Born in Marion County Ohio in 1845 he enlisted as a drummer boy in the Civil War and served until its end. He lived in Montana from 1870, in Madison and Beaverhead counties before moving to the Bitter Root valley in 1897. His wife and two daughters survived. Funeral held January 5 in Carlton under the G A R auspices.

Funeral in Dillon for Maurice Day with burial in Mountain View

The funeral of Maurice Eanson Day was held in Dillon with interment in Mountain View cemetery. He died at home from pulmonary troubles at 29, a bricklayer who moved from Towa six months ago seeking a healthful climate, leaving a young widow and a brother who is janitor at the city school.
