Helena dispatch reports both houses adjourned to Monday after brief session. Bills introduced include civil service, mine liabilities, witnesses compensation, and municipal boards. In Senate and House, mixed votes and a United States Senate ballot show Conrad leading, with Toole rising as a dark horse amid sensational testimony about bribery.
Both chambers sat at 2 PM. A senate resolution by Campbell to form a joint committee of Scanton Norris and Campbell to investigate bribery charges was seconded by Courtney and Stanton and adopted through Eggleston's motion. Notices for two bills were given and the senate adjourned. The house approved a $57,000 mileage and per diem measure, heard three bill readings, and reviewed the capital commission report.
In a joint session at 10 30 this morning the committee on bribery investigation reported amid charges of corruption across parties. Whitesides exposed a $40,000 to $50,000 bribery scheme tied to Clark for senator with names including John B Welcome Charlie Clark A J Steele Meyers Ravalli Garr and Madison, and claimed money was to be diverted to the state treasury.
Judge McIntyre orders a fifteen man grand jury after a legislature request to investigate bribery linked to the senatorial contest. John A. Welcome drawn first. sheriff to report Saturday at 10 a.m. The joint committee remains active and will issue further word this week. Also notes bills, resolutions, and party votes, with district court reforms debated.

On joint ballot Clark 21 votes, Conrad 35, Sanders 15, Toole 11, Hartman 3, Barber 2, Fox 2, Mantle 1, Maginnis 1, Hoffman 1. Pauli Metlen and Norris continued voting for Toole.
