Veteran to receive Purple Heart at Legion meeting
Edwin C. Nelson, a local World War I veteran wounded in the Meuse Argonne offensive, will be formally decorated with the Order of the Purple Heart at Bea Verhead post of the American Legion Thursday evening. The award, a federal merit honor, is the first Purple Heart presentation in the county and other veterans here are eligible.

Willard Kenison Dies After Brief Illness at 53
Willard Kenison, prominent Dell ranch man, died Sunday morning at Barrett hospital after a brief illness of pneumonia. Born in Dell 53 years ago, he lived there most of his life and recently worked on the William Gleed ranch near Lima. Mickey OBrien a well known young man from Divide was seriously hurt Monday morning when the truck he was driving plunged over a 40 foot embankment near Divide. He was rushed to St James hospital in Butte where attendants reported a possible skull fracture. He was transported by Oscar Strickland and Clifford Riefern. He has worked as a truck driver for several years and lately with Broward Curtis Contracting driving from Divide to Dewey.

Thomas D. Yost, longtime Beaverhead County resident, died Tuesday morning in a Butte hospital after a long illness. Born November 27, 1861 in Harrisonville Ohio, he came to Beaverhead in 1888 and lived many years in Dillon and Armstead before sheep ranching. Survived by sons Tom and George Yost and daughter Mrs James Sewell of Deer Lodge. Funeral set for Thursday at 2 PM at St James Episcopal Church with Rev H N Tragitt officiating.

Anderson car recovered here after theft report
A Chevrolet coupe stolen from Hans Anderson of this city on November 15 was recovered about 11 o'clock Thursday morning by Sheriff J A McCollum at Lloyd Barnett's service station. The driver, identified as Richard Roe, pleaded not guilty to theft and was bound over in 1000 dollars bond. Findlay Watson of Watson's garage alerted authorities after recognizing the car. The vehicle showed tampered plates and missing parts, with numbers altered to blur identification. The suspect claimed Great Falls as his home.
