Alleged Con Game Bared By Officials

Dillon officials arrested George A. Jackey on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses from Alex Armoyer, proprietor of Dillon Shoe Shop. Jackey pleaded guilty and was bound over to district court on $3,000 bonds after a sting operation yielded $260 in marked bills.

Mrs Carr Notified of Mother’s Death in Helena

Schools Reopen After Holiday Break at Dillon Campus

Normal college, training school, and rural Dillon schools resume after holiday recess. Regular classes start Tuesday at Normal college after Monday registration. Dr. Marlin K. Farmer joins as replacement for Dr. Robert Albright who left for Buffalo New York.

Montana highway patrol reports five arrests for traffic violations. Temple's Crew First in Line For Licenses

Sheriff Paul Temple led Beaverhead county residents at the county treasurer window for 1938 automobile licenses. John Troup undersheriff and Dellar Gordon deputy received early plates 18 2 and 18 3, with W O Smith first truck license. By day’s end about 100 car and 20 truck licenses were issued amidst praise for the orange and black longhorn themed plates.

Dillon Youth Bags Big Elk Near Jardine

Jack Temple, 13, son of Sheriff Paul Temple, shot an elk in Yellowstone park near Jardine. The Dillon hunters joined a large crowd as Jim and Bob Woody of Jackson and others also brought home elk. Traffic congestion arose amid a record sustained elk slaughter by hunters from across the state.

Dan Mooney Dies After Brief Sickness in Beaverhead County

Beaverhead county resident Dan Mooney died last Thursday at Barrett hospital from pneumonia after a short illness. A Solemn high mass was said at St Rose Catholic church by Rev. F X Lechner with burial in Mountain View cemetery. Born in Ireland 79 years ago he came to Michigan before settling in Dillon. Survived by brothers in Ireland, nieces in Dillon and California, a nephew in Dillon, and several grand nieces and nephews.
