John M Steward, one of Butte's founders and a key figure in early mining, died in Hot Springs Arkansas at an advanced age. From Butte Inter Mountain: Judge Lyman E. Munson who served four years as associate justice for the Montana territorial supreme court has died at his New Haven Connecticut home at age 86. He moved to Helena in 1865 to serve in a time with no territorial statutes and recalled arriving July 9 1865 after travel from St. Louis Fort Benton to Helena.

The rooms featured red white and blue decorations and a wall portrait of Martha Washington. A French minuet opened the program followed by a Virginia reel and fudge making. Liberal grazing permits announced for national forests
J E Bower of the Montana Wool Growers Association says national officers report Gifford Pinchot will grant broader grazing privileges. Eight forests, including Big Horn and Yellowstone, will issue permits for five years starting 1908. Privilege extends to all forests with stock numbers within grazing capacity. Forest officers instructed not to report trespass before the accused is given a chance to reply.
