Death of J Anson Baxter Remains in Dillon Community
Dillon mourns the death of J Anson Baxter at Barrett hospital after a weeklong illness. Born Sept 26 1894 in Sac City he moved to Dillon 36 years ago and built a career in electrical contracting and sales at Montana Auto Supply. He played in the Baxter Tonney orchestra for over two decades and belonged to local fraternal groups. Surviving include his widow Hayes Baxter a daughter Billie a foster brother Henry Adams and three aunts. Funeral held at St Rose Catholic church with burial at Mountain View cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Frank Lightfoot welcomed a baby girl Wednesday morning at 11 o clock at Barrett hospital. Mother and baby are doing nicely. The infant is a granddaughter of Mrs Elizabeth Clemow.

Mrs Blanche Gordon wife of Frank Gordon Melrose merchant died at Barrett hospital Sunday afternoon after a brief pneumonia illness. Born July 24 1886 in Benzonia Michigan she had lived in Melrose for twenty years and was highly esteemed. Survived by husband two children Beverly O'Brien Stacy Gordon four grandchildren mother and two sisters in Michigan.

Rutherford Dunn son of William Dunn of Bannack was buried three hours in a Ouray Colorado snowslide that killed three and trapped 40. He survived and received hospital care after exposure. Walter Jones of Dillon slept in a bunk house carried by the slide but was unhurt. Reports say mill and buildings were swept away and others missing or buried. A prior slide near the divide covered a Gilmore and Pittsburg freight train, with workers uncovering it for hours. the area has more snow than in 80 years.

Safe Crackers Visit Bond Grocery in Dillon
