A social hosted by the Modern Woodmen followed a lodge meeting and featured songs by local performers, with a large repast prepared by community ladies. Montgomery Bros. shipped 400 head of fat cattle to a Settle company en route to the coast, as Gibbonsville talent and local events also filled the week. A wandering woman exhibited erratic behavior at the county jail, claiming insanity and a journey from Salt Lake to Dillon, while Washington’s birthday brought a citywide holiday with parades, militia drills, and outdoor recreation.

Lia February 26 Mrs Augusta Goodyear died this morning after a two to three day decline from a severe cold that caused bronchitis and bowel inflammation. Two daughters in Sheridan Montana and a son in Hailey Idaho were summoned and expected. Dr McNiven aided in treatment of Douglas Aspland son of the O I agent who is seriously ill with scarlet fever with a special train arranged for his care. Continued at page Twelve.

A distressed woman about 45 years old and a girl were dropped at Dillon station by a southbound train. She claimed Currie was insane and took charge of the station as officers observed. A Chinaman delivered food, then fled. She bought a ticket to Anaconda and left peacefully on the afternoon train after authorities arranged transport.

Washout Closes Water Wheel At Local Electric Plant
An early Wednesday washout at the electric light plant left the city in darkness. A dome plank broke, water escaped, washing out gravel behind the stone wall beside the old power house and filling the mill race, halting the water wheel but not as badly as a prior incident. Workmen are able to begin repairs.
Embezzlement Charged in Death Case of Dillon Girl
County letters reveal Alva Knox accused of embezzlement for diverting funeral funds from the Salt Lake City case. Knox assisted the burial of a Dillon girl, collected payment for services, and reportedly failed to remit. Salt Lake authorities plan to pursue justice while Dillon records show Knox as a known troublemaker at the Island.
