Lower fire insurance rates take effect in Dillon Montana

The Board of Fire Underwriters recommended substantial rate reductions for Dillon after improvements to the water system and distribution, including a 12 inch main and cast iron mains. Rates drop about 10 percent on brick mercantile policies, 7 percent on frame mercantile policies, and about 25 percent on dwellings within 300 feet of a hydrant.

Beav erhead Placer Ground May Be Worked by Dredges

New York corporation representatives spent over a month sampling western Montana placer grounds in eight counties. J C Mitchell said Montana has thousands of acres of low grade ground potentially profitable with dredging. no large acreage secured yet. If spring leases occur, several electric dredges may be started, with expansion possible if successful. Counties visited include Granite Lewis and Clark Powell Lincoln Missoula Mineral and Beaverhead.

Judges Announce 1927 Court Terms for Three Counties

Judges Henry G. Rodgers of Dillon and Lyman H. Bennett of Virginia City set 1927 terms for Beaverhead Madison and Jefferson counties. Beaverhead opens March 7 May 16 September 19 and November 14. Jefferson opens February 10 April 21 September 22 and December 8. Madison opens January 3 April 4 September 12 and November 7.

Bannack Postoffice May Be Discontinued

Bannack post office may lose its status after James Underwood, long time postmaster, is brought to Dillon for a sanity exam. Inspector Wolfram said Bannack has served the public for nearly 65 years and mail has been made up at Dillon. Underwood has acted as postmaster.

In Beaverhead Post elections George R. Baker was chosen commander for the coming year succeeding James McCollum. Eugene Bond became vice commander with H. C. Judge Grants Name Change to Chris Overgaard

Judge H G Rodgers signed an order granting Chris Overgaard permission to change his name to Chris Overgaard. Arguments in the civil suit of First State Bank of Philipsburg against Herman Musigbrod were concluded Friday at noon and taken under advisement.
