Walter Vance a well known Dillon businessman was summoned to Butte by the death of his brother Howard C. Vance a long time resident and carpenter in That city Surviving him are his wife and son four brothers and one sister The funeral was held Thursday afternoon with Rev Edward Smith formerly of Dillon officiating.
Beaverhead high opens with strong material and veteran leadership from Wright Littl Yost and Cordon. Coach Gunderson cites new recruits and a packed schedule featuring Dubois Idaho and Butte Central as highlights with the district tournament in Dillon in late February.
Veterans and heirs were urged to apply for federal adjusted compensation by January 1 1928 with thousands missing out on a free life insurance policy. Applications were to be secured from regional Veterans Bureau offices or postmasters, with guidance from Legion leaders and local officials.

An executive committee meeting at the high school outlined primmary plans for the Mining district tournament. The event runs Thursday February 23 to Saturday, featuring 11 teams with 16 to 18 games, and seeks substantial local support to cover expenses through adult and student ticket sales.
Miss Norah Connelley reports about $257,987 in taxes collected to date with around 150 property owners delinquent on county records. Over half this total comes from half payments on real property and the delinquent list is expected to be small when the second installment is due at the end of May. The total to be collected stands at $425,017.72.
A. W. Stephenson of Montana Air Service and Matt Alexander of Butte both passed the commercial flying license exams in Butte conducted by Ben Eielson. Stephenson expects a possible berth on the new air mail route slated for next spring between Butte and Salt Lake City.
