Beav erhead Rock irrigation project push gains momentum
A meeting of landowners between Dillon and Twin Bridges with the water conservation board in Helena on December 2 led to confidence that enough water users can be signed to ensure the Beaverhead Rock irrigation project. The government has allotted 1 145 454 dollars for the dam and canals. Madison and Jefferson counties ranchers as chief beneficiaries must sign for 81 000 acre feet of water before construction. The deadline for contracts was extended to January 1. A Dillon business men’s drive raised about 250 dollars for canvassing ranchers, and delegates returned to Whitehall to form committees and proceed with the signup campaign.
