Before a small Dillon crowd, a boxing card at city hall Saturday night offered standout local action. Weston Strausser of Normal College, state middleweight champ, defeated Tuffy Jesperson of Bozeman on points, with a drawn opening round. Semi windup saw McCarthy of CCC beat Pat Downing of Dillon, while Jack McLenegan of Butte KOed Tony Reese of CCC. Speed Crawford and Kid Blake drew after four rounds. Louis Bell of Seacook delivered a decisive upset.

Beaten Overpass Contract Awarded to Butte Firm
The state highway commission in Helena awarded a contract to Lawlor Corporation of Butte for a reinforced concrete overpass in Beaverhead County over the Oregon Short Line railroad, about two and a half miles south of Dillon. The bid totaled 84,579.85 dollars and work should begin soon to close the final open railroad crossing on U S Highway 91.

Girl Scouts to Receive Awards at Court of Awards
Twenty eight girls will be invested and receive pins at a church court of awards Thursday evening December 5 between seven and eight. Scouts from Meadow Lark Troop No 4 and Pine Tree troop will earn pins after completing the laws promise motto signs and knots and studying the flag. County board approves pensions and jail contract
During the county commissioners session the old age pension committee temporarily approved four pension applications. Chairman W B Hartwig will present 102 names to the state old age pension bureau in Helena. A Farmers Union committee supported the county agent department. A contract with the Bureau of Federal Prisons was signed for jail prisoner care at $1 per day per person.

Former County Resident Lottie Kimmel Smith Dies in Indiana
Word arrives of the death at Howe Indiana on Saturday November 28 of Mrs. F M Smith formerly Mrs Lottie Kimmel a well known former county resident. She served as postmistress at Bedrock two years and Armstead about ten years and later lived in Dillon. Funeral held the following Tuesday in Ontario Indiana. Her husband survives.

Deer killing case lands man guilty in Stahl court
P. Coon pleaded guilty in Judge Stahl's court on Tuesday to killing a deer out of season. Arrested at Armstead by deputy state game warden Charles Price, he was fined 100 dollars or 200 days in jail. The carcass and rifle were seized and will be sold or forfeited. the car may be involved.

Fire of undetermined origin caused extensive damage Sunday morning at the home of Miss Carolyn White on South Idaho Street. The upper story and roof were charred, and lower rooms flooded from extinguishing efforts. an explosion was heard shortly before 11.00. The volunteer department fought the blaze for nearly an hour. damages to the upper story are estimated at two to three thousand dollars, insured. Miss White and her brother Emerys White were at home.
