Important Criminal Cases Delayed to November Term

In district court Judge M. H. Parker presided as bonds for county commissioners were approved. The Birchdale Stock Farm water case drew attention with many attorneys present, and numerous criminal and civil matters were set for trial in November including Pollock, Ferris, Barefield, Toney, Phillips, Nichols, and Anderson. Trials, demurrers, and quash motions dominated the docket as judges ruled on information validity and amended complaints.

YACHT RACE ENDS WITHOUT CONTEST IN SERIES OPENER

The first race between Reliance the defender and Shamrock ITI the challenger did not finish within the time limit and was declared no contest. Reliance led by two miles after handicap deductions of 1 minute 57 seconds, with weather unfavorable for the race.

Survey Completed for Billings Railroad Into Salmon River Country

A three month survey from Horse Prairie creek to near Ulisysis shows an easy grade for most of 45 miles with a 3000 foot tunnel planned across the Rockies. The project, led by J H Collins and Wm Mathews of St Louis, involves Billings financiers and Walse & Reese contractors. Local generosity donated the right of way along the Lemhi and Salmon rivers. The line may join the Short Line on Scott Decker ranch or run parallel from Butte if a lease fails.

Salmon Railway Draws Yellowstone Sheepmen to Enterprise

J D O Donnell a Yellowstone valley sheepman and his wife travelled to Spokane for the Trans Mississipp i congress where he serves as Montana delegate. He promotes a Butte and Salmon City railroad to run through eastern Montana with Billings residents aiding the venture while details remain undisclosed.

Presbyterian church social on lawn raises funds

Trustees held a Friday evening social on the church lawn with music and refreshments ice cream cake and coffee served under an arc light. A maypole dance by LB little girls delighted attendees and the event netted between 50 and 60 dollars.

Stockholders Meeting Fails To Resolve Fair and Racing

Advertised stockholders meeting of the Fair and Racing association last Saturday ended in confusion with two sessions held at different locations and no business completed. Another meeting is planned for next Saturday with hopes of progress.
