Beaverhead County approves 42.33 mill tax levy for year
County commissioners set the total levy at 42.33 mills, up half a mill to fund a special high school. Other funds remain unchanged with General 12.99, Road 5.00, General School 6.00, Bridge 2.00, Poor 6.00, Bond Interest 2.50, Special High School 7.84. Valuation fell by about 100000 dollars, and state levy will be half a mill lower. Final budget and equalization sessions held.

George P Wolf a longtime Dillon resident and former barber died Monday evening after a lingering illness. Born November 10 1868 in Chariton Town he moved to Dillon in 1893 and made his home here. Survived by his wife and a daughter Ruth both of Dillon funeral set for Thursday at 2 30 p m at Brundage chapel with Rev W J Loar officiating and interment at Mountain View Cemetery Neighbors of Whodcraft will gather at 2 15 at I C O F hall to attend service together.

Hunters Bag A Ton Of Sage Hens In Open Season
Deputy Game Warden E I M Krost counted 327 loads of hunters in Sheep Creek basin during the three day sage hen season. He reported 1051 birds killed with many hunters taking their limit. A smoker caused a fire threatening five acres before Warden Kroft and forest cooperators controlled it. No smoking rules in National Forests have been in effect in Montana since July 18.

Young Aviators Reach California in Small Plane
Two Dillon youths Joé Polish and Henry Colfer piloted a Curtis Wright plane from Dillon to California despite a dangerous forced landing in a grain field 40 miles east of San Diego. Jack Boyle aged about 60 years died at Barrett hospital early Tuesday after a cerebral hemorrhage. A prominent Jerome sheepman, he had just returned to his Monida area ranch from a Dillon business trip. Survived by wife and two children of Jerome, his body was shipped there for identification.

Youth recovered from gun wound at Barrett Hospital
