Ronald Bayerd 19 son of Mr and Mrs Forest Bayerd of Dillon died while attempting to swim across Lovell Lake nine miles south of town on Friday afternoon rescue attempts by companion Joe Ryburn failed as divers located the body in about 14 feet of water after 2 PM. Bayerd a Beaverhead county high school graduate and University of Washington sophomore was highly regarded in Dillon.

A. C. Gruwell recounts a 1910 State bank robbery attempt on August 38 as a lone bandit fired a barn, entered the bank, fired one shot, and was captured after his horse failed. The man served nine years of a 20 year sentence before reforming and sending a greeting to Gruwell years later.

Huns Hatched by Hen Grow Into Domestic Partridges
Lester Rice of the Tom Dubois ranch hatched nine Hungarian partridges from a nest found while irrigating an alfalfa field. The eggs were placed under a sitting hen to prevent water damage, and the brood is now thriving with the other barnyard fowls.

Herders Shoot Threatened Theft Suspect Near Jackson
