Baptist Church Contest Ends With Narrow Victory

In social activity within the Baptist church, two divisions hosted events over weeks. Kate Lewis hosted a Thursday gathering on Pacific street where captains reported totals of 137.40 for Mrs. C W Robison and Miss Clara Plant and 135.80 for Kate Lewis and Mrs R R Rathbone, a $1.60 win for Robison's side. The losers will host the winners in a future entertainment once arrangements are set.

Burglaries Hit Armstead Mercantile Case Three Suspects Cited

About eighty dollars worth of boots blankets and socks were taken from the Wedum Mercantile Co in Armstead. Three suspects were captured near Dillon after selling goods along the road from Armstead to Dillon and two more were rounded up near Melrose. Deputies pursued one man toward Dillon by tie pass and later caught him near Apex. The other two were stopped at Melrose as they headed for Butte. The fourth suspect remained missing at press time.

Scenic theatre showcases packed houses and top vaudeville acts

The Scenic theatre has drawn full houses for a week with seven amateur numbers winning prizes led by Babe Lyons. Vaudeville by Bee and Connolly entertained Sunday and Monday with rope skills and horn music. Upcoming features include Enoch Arden in two reels and Diamond Ranch and Dante's Inferno, cost over $500,000, touted as premier productions.
