Immunization Clinic Next Week in Dillon

A two day clinic will operate May 1 and 2 at the old training school building from 9 a.m. to 12 noon to immunize Beaverhead county children ages 6 months to 14 years. The Montana state board of health and local officials sponsor the event with Dillon physicians, nurse Katherine MacGregor, and county nurse Inella Stickney. A $1 fee applies to those able to pay. free for those unable. Publicity Committee of Child Welfare Council urges parental participation to prevent diphtheria and smallpox.

Dakota Caravan Heads for Idaho

A motor caravan of five Ford cars carried five North Dakota farming families fleeing drought and dust storms. They passed through Dillon en route to Twin Falls Idaho seeking farm work and a new residence while hopeful about opportunities in ranching.

Dillon Gun Club Wins Easter Shoot

In the second telegraphic shoot of the season the Dillon Gun club scored 74 to top the Mis soula club with 71. Butte marksmen led with Petet Westergaard 98x100 and Ted Renfro 99x100, while Hermann Peterson won the doubles event 48x50. Home shooters faced strong wind and posted several 20s and 19s out of 25.

Popular Couple Weds in Dillon Ceremony at Ranch Home

In a family and intimate gathering Rev. Orval A. Schmidt presided as Valborg Peterson McKeehen and Blaine rancher Matthew Telin joined in marriage Sunday afternoon at the Peter J. The Beaverhead County High School debate team led by Harold Wheat and Jack Reeves finished second in the first Mining District contest at Butte while Butte High won the championship. Dillon beat Anaconda earlier and defeated the Smelter City pair. coached by Violet M. Wastman, the team competed for federal education grant policy.

The Dillon Choral Club presents a sacred concert Sunday evening at Hirst Baptist Church. Two Men Sentenced in Dell Post Office Robbery Case

John Tabor and Frank Gilstrap pleaded guilty in federal court at Billings to the Dell post office robbery two years ago and to a Molt Mont count. Tabor drew two years and 100 dollar fine plus extra time and 500 dollar fine on the Molt count. Gilstrap got two years and a 50 dollar fine, with penalties suspended for aiding government case. C. W. Tabor pleaded not guilty and faces trial in 8 to 10 months, with confinement in Billings jail in the interim.

Sheriff and deputy return from Billings with trio of robbery suspects

Sheriff James McCollum and Deputy Pat Flynn brought three prisoners from Billings after a robbery at Dell including a store and post office. They planned to appear in federal court, but no action was taken and the trio remain jailed in killings. The officers also visited the Custer battlefield during their eastern state trip.

Rotary Club Armstead Meet Draws Ranchers and Merchants

Dillon Rotary met at Armstead Schoolhouse with about 75 attendees including ranchers and merchants. Tom Gilbert chaired. Bert McMeromey welcomed guests as Armstead locals praised hospitality. Dillon Man Dies at Barrett Hospital After Illness

Gustaf T. Petensem 62, Sweden native and longtime Dillon resident, died at Barrett hospital last Saturday after a brief illness. Employed by Stanley Sistenson, he lived in the area 42 years and once ran a ranch in the Sweetwater district. No relatives were located. Funeral held Wednesday with burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

Churches Crowded for Easter Sunday Services

Dillon and the surrounding community filled city churches despite threat of storms. Easter crowds filled pews with spring fashion and bonnets, special music and sermons on the risen Lord, plus afternoon concerts and children’s features.
