Beaverhead County Fair Organizes Commission and Plans

Beaverhead county fair commissioners meeting in Dillon selects George R. Featherly as president and Carruthers as secretary and treasurer. A committee will finalize the premium list while the fair association arrange attractions and secure horse stalls for training next fall. The fair grounds will host a ball team free of charge with fence and grandstand transfers.

Unusual Mine Opening At Dillon Argenta Company

At the Dillon Argenta company mine in Argenta a mine opening was held on Sunday attended by about twenty stockholders. The mine was unwatered and prepared for continued work. A No 7 Knowles pump, 60 horsepower boiler, and existing hoist support operations as crews plan to sink the shaft at least 125 feet deeper toward a nearly 300 foot depth. The vein is large and crosscut at several points.

D E Fish in agriculture $1300 yearly. F D Willis business $1100 yearly. Belle Osborn domestic science $95 monthly. Inez Gurnee English $105 monthly. Two rooms will be arranged for domestic science with sewing and kitchen facilities for fall instruction. Joseph Skrenar of Glendale faced burglary charges and posted $100 bond for May 9 trial. Bernice Hirschman, daughter of Sylvester Hirschman, sustained serious injuries from a doorstep fall but no bones were broken.

Depot plans loom as three Oregon Short Line officials visit Dillon

Three Oregon Short Line officials led by J. P. Congdon inspected Dillon last Saturday to study the new depot and grounds leased space for local firms. They praised the town and considered building the depot with white rock from Frying Pan basin. Plans call for early work and substantial frontage parking along Montana street this year. Hypnotist John Evans entertained at the Dillon theatre but Arbor Day attendance was light. The Black Crook drew a smaller crowd but strong performances capped the season’s acts.

Silver service gifted to Montana cruiser on display in Dillon

The Montana state silver service for the armored cruiser Montana, manufactured by Reed & Barton, arrived from New York and was shown in Dillon at Huber Bros. It exceeds contract weight by 192 ounces valued at $662, with extra ladle included, and will be shipped to Helena around May 5.
