Miss Virginia Randolph of Beaverhead county high school won second place in the district oratorical contest held last Saturday in Butte and received a gold medal from the Great Falls Tribune. She will represent the mining district at the state contest in Great Falls in April, with Spencer Thompson, first in the district contest from Butte.

Federal agents led by Ben Holter raided the Buffet basement bar on Bannack Street Dillon. Eli Peterson was arrested and arraigned before U S Commissioner F A Hazelbaker and released on bond. The bar was stripped of fixtures and liquor seized as evidence while a large crowd watched.

McLaren Baby Dies of Pneumonia
Walter Henry McLaren aged 11 months son of Mr and Mrs J H McLaren died at home early last Friday after a brief pneumonia illness. He was born in this city youngest of six. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Baptist church with Rev R Shannon officiating and burial in Mountain View cemetery.

The son of Mr and Mrs William Gordon he was well known in the community and attended local school. Born in St Agnishis Michigan his family moved to Dillon about eleven years ago. He is survived by his parents four sisters and three brothers. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev J D Smith officiating and interment in Mountain View cemetery.

Heavy floods near Humphrey Idaho halted Oregon Short Line traffic for two days this week. Meltwater covered tracks to depths of several feet over about a half mile. Water drained and repairs completed Tuesday, restoring normal service.
