Revival foreseen as Glen mining sale announced

Theodore L. Meladden of Gilbert and Meladden announces the sale of the Hidden Treasure group of ten lode claims on McCarthy Mountain near Tillon to Frederick C. Gilbert, with attorney Sen. Thomas J. Walker of Butte. Old-time Dillon resident E. B. Sabin dies after long illness

E B Sabin a Montana freighter and early settler died at his daughter Marietta Smiths home after a long illness. Born Salt Lake City November 27 1847 he freighted between Corinne Utah and Montana before settling in Beaverhead county. He moved to Dillon in 1906 and lived there until two years ago when he relocated to Hamilton.

P T A Convention Planned in Dillon in May

The Montana Congress of Parents and Teachers district convention will be held in Dillon during the first week in May. Delegates are to travel from Missoula Darby Helena Butte Jima the Nelson school Reichle and Hireh Creek. Mrs R R Govanson of Missoula district PTA president will preside.

Stolen Old Painting At Cabin Near Point of Rocks

The antique wall painting once displayed in a cabin near Point of Rocks was stolen last winter. Mrs. J. W. Scott of Armstead appeals for its return, promising no questions if recovered. The artwork showed a young girl by a well and was a favored local relic tied to early stagecoach days.

Rotary Talk Analyzes Traffic Accidents Causes

J. 5. Kelsey of New Jersey spoke at the Dillon Rotary Club dinner on traffic crashes and prevention. He said most accidents occur off the business district with sharp left turns driving intersection crashes. Betty Roe, Beaverhead high school student, spoke on Germany’s political situation and predicted Hindenburg’s reelection. Edward Exum sang a vocal solo. Flight School Instructor Attends Island Empire Meeting

Montana judge dismisses Montgomery suit in estate case

Judge George M. Bourquin in Helena ruled for defendants in G H Montgomery against J H Gilbert et al. The case, originating in Dillon and tried in Butte, centered on probate notice and alleged conversion. The court found the conversion unproven and dismissed the suit.

Quiet City Election Sees Tie in Second Ward

Last Monday's city election across four wards produced about 50 votes with only one contest a 5 to 5 tie between Elmo Winn and Albert Featherly in the second ward. Unless the official count changes, Featherly may keep his alderman seat while George Gosman, A. G. Williams, and John T. Orr won in wards one, three, and four respectively.

Dillon Gun Club Wins State Telegraph Trapshoot

The state telegraphic trapshoot, held Sunday, was won by Dillon shooters with 73 of 75. Ted Renfro of Dell, world champion, scored 25 of 25. Dillon led with 25 gunners, Standings list Dillon 78 and several clubs close behind.

Declamation Event Won by Ruth Kelly at County Finals

Ruth Kelly of Dillon won the seventh and eighth grade declamatory contest at the county finals held in Dillon. Stewart Capehart of Wisdom placed second. in the sixth grade division William Tower won with Marshall Pomeroy of Wisdom second. The event drew ten contestants and featured musical numbers by an instrumental trio and a double quartet.
