Mrs Jules Wenger and Mrs Fred Shoenberger were Saturday visitors at the home of Ms John Wenger in a local social note.
Prospects for Beaverhead County show a strong push in natural resources. A Dillon to Bannack electric line may bring power to Argenta and Blue Wing, reviving milling and mining. Oil drilling nears at Hagenbarth-Greene site, Beaverhead-Alberta well shows promising indications, and shale oil prospects near Smallhorn Canyon with Genet retort planned.
Dillon hosts the Chinese Government society’s annual gathering with 28 novices initiated amid incense, robes, and Confucian rites. Terry Browning, George Melton, and A. T. Peterson performed a short program at the Masonic banquet for visiting Anaconda Masons, with Chinese songs enjoyed by all.
Registration opened last Monday with about 520 students. Attendance shows only a slight decrease from the previous quarter and includes several men enrolling to replace graduates and those completing special courses.
A. R. Talbot announced that Dillon camp of the Modern Woodmen of America won the state prize banner for the most new members in Montana in 1926. The banner, held by Kalispell camp No. 5401, will soon be sent to Dillon for display, and the lodge hopes to keep it next year by adding just one new member.
The board of county commissioners will hold a regular session at the courthouse on Monday April 4. Claims against the county must be filed by Saturday April 2.
In Dillon a crowded courthouse caucus nominated Mayor Roscoe Cornell for another term by a 155 to 88 vote over W T Scully. L P Phillips was named judge and J B Mayfield treasurer, with aldermanic contests in wards one and three and election set for April 4 with 8 AM to 6 PM polling.

Screenings at Hartwig include Nobody's Business Valencia and Mike. city election polls April 4. meetings for Odd Fellows DeMolay Rebekahs and various clubs. Rotary luncheon April 6. theater and musical program dates with Mae Murray and Patsy Ruth Milter. youth groups Campfire Girls and Shakespeare club meetups. Masons and WBA activities noted.
John Kent will begin operations of a new saw mill on April 15 located about 3 1-2 miles above the Selway ranch at the head of Scotty canyon, or at the right hand fork of Price's canyon.
A planned transmission line from Dillon to Bannack will enable electric power for mining. John Ryan of Denver said Paymaster Gold Mining will finance the project costing about 35000 dollars, linking to the Dillon supply and aiding Bannack Blue Wing and Argenta districts with pumping and revival of mining activity.
Death of John B Mayfield in Murray hospital Butte follows operation. Dillon native born February 28 1868 in Central City Colorado he lived in Dillon since 1910 worked as local representative of the Butte Miner and city treasurer. Surviving wife two daughters Mrs Richmond Hobson and Mrs Ralph Spencer of Fullerton California two sons Johnnie and Edward and brothers Herman of Dillon and another in Colorado. Funeral held at Methodist church with Rev H B Ricketts officiating. Interment Mountain View Cemetery.
A delegation from Acacia lodge No. 33 A F and A M visited Dillon last Saturday for a banquet and initiation at the local Masonic hall. Members from across the county attended the social event and the third degree was conferred on several local candidates with Anaconda lodge assisting in the ceremony.
Mrs E Provost who spent six weeks in Savanna Missouri for medical treatment returned home Thursday morning. She was accompanied by her son E Pulvery.
