National Civil Defense week calls for renewed home defense interest. Dillon’s Ground Observation Corps seeks volunteers to staff two hour shifts at City Hall and report aircraft to the Helena Filter Center. Interested residents should contact Director Ed Swetich.
Garry Edgar Johnson a Dillon harness shop owner and sportsman died at St. Patrick's hospital Missoula at 7:33 Sunday morning after 18 months ill health. He would have turned 47 on September 27. Funeral services were held at Brundage Chapel with Rev. William J. Holland officiating and burial at Mountain View cemetery. Survivors include wife Lois Davidson daughter Janet Lee his father William E. Johnson sisters Grace and Ruth and brother Raymond. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society care of Mrs. Paul Temple.
The Dillon Country Club hosted its annual Calcutta dinner at the clubhouse on Saturday night with members bringing guests. Drawings for the Calcutta pool were conducted during the event.
Silas Stone 79 died of a heart attack at his home 712 East Barnett Ave Friday morning. Born August 9 1877 in Henry County Missouri, he married Maggie Barnes in 1899 she died 1945. Nine children, seven surviving, predeceased or living. funeral planned in Clinton Missouri with remains sent there. Survivors include three daughters and sons in law and four sons and daughters in law across Dillon Clinton Brownington Thompsons and Dell. one brother listed.
Luther M. Stone of Clinton Missouri is noted with a sister in law Mrs C E Barnes of Dillon, plus several grandchildren two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
