Funeral of Herbert Gilbert Held in Dillon
Funeral services for Herbert F. Gilbert a Madison county rancher who died Aug 29 were held last Thursday afternoon at the Dillon Masonic temple. The Dillon Masonic fraternity led the rites with Rev H N Tragitt of St James Episcopal church assisting. Banks and county offices closed for the funeral. Pallbearers included Ross W Emerick Hugh L McCaleb John T Orr Ross Nay Clyde Rann and William Marshal. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Road Work Starts This Week on Armstead Idaho Highway
Nolan Brothers of Minneapolis awarded a $133,899.39 contract to macadamize 45.751 miles from Armstead to the Idaho line with plant mix oil-treated gravel. Work began with equipment unloading and an oil mixing plant at Red Rock and is to be completed by July 1 next year, weather permitting.

A gas fire at the Beaverhead Auto Sales garage near the pumps sparked by a car fill ignited gasoline running along the curb. Incendiary Fire Found Near Big Hole Basin
Forest Ranger R. J. Bower found evidence of an attempted incendiary fire on the west side of the upper Big Hole basin Monday afternoon. Limbs were stripped from two trees and placed in piles. A match had been lit but the blaze was discovered before spreading. A separate man caused fire was reported from Big Sheep Creek but stopped before damage.
