First Typewriter Gift Honored at Montana Pioneers
Judge W I Lippincott of Butte received honorary membership in the Montana Pioneers society for introducing the first typewriter to the territory in 1885 and for collecting early reminiscences for the state archives. He chaired notes from the 1884 constitutional convention and served as the society’s archivist.

Young Butte Man Breaks Cascade County Larceny Record
Great Falls report says 25 year old Harry Brown, tied to a prominent Butte family, was arrested at 6 a.m. on grand larceny for stealing a automobile. At 10 a.m. an information was filed, at 10:46 he pled guilty, and by 11 he was en route to Deer Lodge state prison.
