Mis soula authorities fought a minor porcupine intrusion on August 31 with Officer Gus Peterson leading a motorized unit at 714 Taylor street. A few shots fired produced no casualties as several dozen porcupines foraged downtown. Peterson blamed late summer heat and green lawns for the unusual abundance and noted porcupines do not attack, requiring a head shot to kill.
