DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Ruth Karstin Martin
Ruth Karstin Martin daughter of Mr and Mrs John Martin died in this city last Monday morning after a long illness Brights disease and later dropsy. She was born in Stockholm Sweden ten years ago and came to this country at age three. She resided here for the past year. She leaves her parents and a younger brother. Funeral will be Thursday afternoon in this city with interment at Mountain View cemetery.

Death of D B Metlen A Pioneer Rancher Remembered
D B Metlen of Horse Prairie near Armstead died at his ranch after years of indigestion. He was a longtime rancher and miner who helped found Beaverhead County institutions and served in multiple state and county offices. His death follows illness with family by his side. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery after a Dillon funeral.
Montana Board Hikes Stock Cattle Valuation in Counties
Helena Aug 28 The state board of equalization raised stock cattle values in Jefferson county by 100 percent and increased valuations for three year olds in Mineral Silver Bow and Valley. Other counties saw rises and two counties saw decreases while land valuations reached uniform levels led by Gallatin and Carbon. No changes were made to horse valuations.
