Probate Judge Emerson Hill and his wife were honored at the home of Mayor Fred Viel as they celebrated their sixty fifth wedding anniversary. The couple, married Aug 25 1878 in Marquand Missouri, moved to Lemhi county in 1907 after earlier years in Bedrock Montana. He was Salmon’s first mayor in 1911 and later led the Salmon Bank.

Cantrell Retires as Dillon Western Union Operator
E K H Cantrell, Western Union operator in Dillon for 21 years, retired last week and handed the Dillon office to Miss June Peterson of Spokane. Cantrell began with Western Union 31 years ago in Billings, later working in Anaconda and Butte before coming to Dillon. He will tend his ranch and dairy three miles north of Dillon. his sons LaRue and Harold are in the service. Peterson took over on Friday August 20 after a week of work with Cantrell and trained under a former Union employee.
