Engineer William Purdie and Fireman Eugene Bare died after two coal cars derailed and struck passenger train No 4 between Lima and Judd. The incident killed Purdie and Bare as the cars sped at high speed and derailed near the yard. Catholic sisters aboard aided the injured before they died.

Last Sunday’s Rally Day aimed for 200 attendees and a $10 collection. Inclement weather kept numbers down, with 185 present and $11.05 collected. It is perhaps the largest regular Sunday school meeting ever held in Dillon.
