Court to Convene as Eight Criminal Cases Docketed

The November term of the district court will convene next Wednesday morning with a trial jury. Eight criminal cases are on the docket including assaults, forgery, larceny, burglary, perjury, and a separate case against Dillon chief of police Fred L. Stone. Jurors drawn include Harrison Bender, Clifford B. Shelly, E. W. Slack, and many others from Dillon and nearby towns. The docket lists specific cases and parties across numerous civil matters as the term opens.

Mendelsohn Hymn of Praise rehearsal at studio here

The Choral Society announces the arrival of Mendelssohn Hymn of Praise music and a first rehearsal will be held a week from Thursday at Mr Reidelnberger’s studio. Strong attendance is urged as the piece will be performed by the orchestra and chorus at the opening of the new college hall.

Musical Treat at College Tonight

College concert presented by Prof Reidelsberger assisted by Mr Jewell at the Normal college assembly hall. Solo and orchestral numbers include Bach inspired pieces and baritone selections by Mr Jewell with Mrs Jewell at the piano, plus Sarasate Fantasie on Mignon themes.

Beaverhead County Schools See Enrollment Rise in 1906 07

County Superintendent Alice Herr reports a total of 1414 pupils across 32 districts for the year ending August 31, 1907, with 705 male and 709 female students. Forty four teachers operated county wide, mostly women, including 13 Normal College graduates. The Dillon district shows a year balance of 2171.77 and total receipts of 13 630.60. Overall district finances tally cash on hand 18122.96 at start, 46265.78 total receipts and expenditures, ending August 31 1907 with 14717.72 on hand.

Dillon Hosts Expensive Nor mal Entertainment Course

Next week Dillon begins the most costly entertainment series ever seen locally. On Wednesday June 6 the Chicago Glee Club performs with a reader, followed by Tennessee Senator Bob Taylor, humorist Herbert Cope, W J Clarke showing electricity wonders, and magician Marc Seagon. Season tickets are on sale at the post office store with seat selection opening Monday, then single tickets if any remain.

Police Chiefs on Trial in Local Assault Case

In a crowded justice court trial State v Fred L Stone and William Lovell, police chief and assistant chief, charge of assault arise from an arrest of Roscoe C Johnson. Prosecution claims Lovell beat Johnson while Stone held his hands. officers deny, saying Johnson fought. Jury verdict: Stone discharged, Lovell fined five dollars.

Fine Horse Show At Dell Attracts Large Crowd

A large crowd attended the Dell Belgian Horse company show on Saturday October 26 in Dell. Judges from Dillon Lima and Dell awarded prizes across Belgian stallions Percheron and mares. Local citizens plan to expand the event and may host a county fair in Dell next year.

Morton to Open New Men’s Furnishings Store in Bannack Block

J Robert Morton plans to move his stock to the Eddie Block on Bannack Street next week and open a larger men’s furnishing department. The Dillions Grocery will occupy the Kunzman block lower floor when ready. Morton has expanded stock with new linen and aims to offer a broader, up to date line in Southern Montana.
