County Institute a Decided Success
The Beaverhead county teachers institute met last week with 41 enrolled, the largest turnout in county history. Miss Ross led a new profitable plan, with morning sessions observing the Dillon public school's training work and demonstrations by critic teachers. Dr Grant E Finch presented geography and Jamaica lecture with photos, while Miss Sawyer and Mr Ketcham added external insight. Tickets for a banquet costing 75 cents are on sale through Oct 28 with Governor Norris and Mayor Olmsted among speakers.

Special Train of Canadian Boosters Visits Dillon
A special train bound for Lethbridge, Canada, carried over one hundred boosters through Dillon last Sunday afternoon. The delegation, decorated with banners, praised Lethbridge’s victory at the 1912 dry farming congress in Colorado Springs. Ten or twelve wives in Scotch dress and bagpipes accompanied the group, boosting support for the 1913 convention and presidency.

N S Wood Raises Big Potatoes in Flathead
Rowen dispatch notes N S Wood formerly from this city is growing large potatoes in the Flathead reservation. He plowed an acre near Dixon buffalo reserve and planted White Elephant potatoes. He sold part of the crop at $1 25 per hundred pounds and the rest at $1 per hundred, recouping costs. Wood arrived from New York in 1864 and chose Flathead land after exploring much of the state.

Death Claims a Popular Citizen in County After Ill Health
John R. Bowen, long active in Dillon and Polaris communities, died Monday night after an eight year battle with tuberculosis. He was 65, born in Wellsboro, educated in New York, and formerly treasurer of Outing Publishing. He leaves a daughter Kathryn, parents, and three brothers. funeral will be in Knoxville, Pennsylvania.
